DOUBLE BASS ROSIN

This rosin is known to every double bass player, but few know for sure that the POPS rosin gains value when properly hardened. According to Paula V. Ellisona from Rice University, if the rosin is more than 1.5 years old, then it is a perfect rosin to be touched lightly with a bow, because it exhibits ideal properties for chamber playing. On the other hand, if it spends 2.5-3 years or more, then it's perfect for solo. A little powdered rosin has a positive effect on the projection in the high registers.
